Chris’ Bachelorette Part 1: Martini Workshop

I was fortunate enough to be part of Chris’ bachelorette celebrations. Things started off with a Martini workshop – added bonus I learned a thing or two about drink mixing.

Valuable lesson: more ice is the BEST option!

The instructor

Just like old times :)

Chris' remembered my gluten allergy - thanks soooo much!!!

Trick or Treat 2011

This year we got 83 “kids”. My favs were: little lady bug, baby strawberry and our little neighbour I think she was a green dragon. Then there were the BIG kids…this sums it up:

THAT’S IT big kids?!? No costumes, opening your back pack and expecting candy is not cool. From now on, these BIG kids need to analyze the trend on our pumpkin! THEN MAYBE you’ll get a treat!. Excellent carvin’ hubby!

Our pumpkin!

Our treats. We had to refill ran out of candies fast.

Other hightlights:

Little princess: “trick or treat”

M-A: “here you go happy halloween”

Little princess: takes 3 steps checks her candies then RUN back before I can shut the door and says “trick or treat”?

M-A: LOL – here are more chupa chups for you!

LOL  highlight: GILLIGAN picked POCAHONTAS as his costume

lights out!

Silent Disco

Checked out an Industry event with a few pals. Naughty by Nature was performing so it was a must see.

current work pals + oats

some of my original work pals

flip book fun

FIST PUMPIN with Vanessa and a random with the money shades

Blast from the past: NAUGHTY BY NATURE

Hip Hop Hooray

MisAdventure 562: Stage Frieght?

I was fairly close to the stage. Next thing I know I’m getting pushed on to the stage. Then I’m on stage with Naughty by Nature along with a handful of others for their famous “hip hop hooray”. Too bad my camera died – these are from my phone…not the best quality

Treach within reach

Hey Mr. Dj!

That was fun. Except at times I felt like that tiny little stage was going to collapse.

After the show, there was a “Silence Disco” bumpin’. What’s that you ask? Well…

There are two DJs but you have to wear headphones and pick a channel you want to listen to. Then you just dance like no one is watching. Interesting concept.

It's treach - photog issues

My first race: 10k!

I’m always mixing up my workout routines: kicking, boxing, “the gym” but I’ve never done the running thing.  I NEVER thought I’d like running let alone be a runner BUT I just finished my first race today – 10K! Big thanks to K-Mac for suggesting we run.

Farah, Kara and I started running end of May early June on  Monday, Wednesday, Friday after work and Saturday mornings (Friday nights were tricky) but we committed to that schedule, to prep for this 10k run. Kara and I never ran a race before but Farah had previous experience so she was great to have on our team.

My goal for my very first 10k race was to run it in an hour and thirty minutes. I completed the run in 1:21:18. Woo hoo! The Long Boat race took place on Toronto Island. The weather was perfect and I was pumped for the run.

There were 1500 runners today, I was #1081

Kara and I making our way to the starting line (we missed you Farah!)

I decided to join the warm up, the Grease mega mix was bumpin so how could I resist?!?

I was getting a little nervous when it was time to line up

Note: don't wear green to the Island these little bugs were all over me, they probably thought I was a tree

Joining the herd moments away from getting the run started

hats - check! headphones - check! nike plus - check! pumped - check! let's RUN!

I’ve never done these races before and I was told not to get caught up in the adrenaline. The start of the race was INTENSE. I’m caught in a mad rush of people (even though I was at the back) people were flying but I was determined to keep my own pace. At the 3km mark I started to get shin splints and it slowed me down a bit at one point I felt like I was the last person in the pack BUT at the 4km mark I saw my hubby and that gave me motivation to push through.

Finding my groove and setting the pace

M-A MisAdventure 523: Water Stations
Water stations were set up at 3km 5km and 8km. I was running at a good pace by  the 5km and these water stations were a nice treat BUT when you’re running and you grab this water cup it’s a disaster waiting to happen. I thought I would run and drink NOPE first drink landed on me so I just ditched the cup. At 5km I needed a refresher so I slowed down but had jello legs and my water ended up all over my leg.  The last water station I just grabbed the water thought I had it under control but spilled everything all over my right shoe. I’ll figure this out before my next run.

I can do this!

Kara in blue

At this point I decided to sprint to the finish and beat those infront of me ;)

FINISH LINE 1:21:18 I DID IT!!!!!!!!!!!! 10K COMPLETE :)

That was a fun run. The 1km-3km was pavement 3km-4km grass 5km-8km pavement 8km-9km this crazy boardwalk (blinding, uneven and seemed like it was never ending) final km was all  pavement to the finish line.

All done! All smiles!

On a boat race day was a success!

Going back to the city
